Brookside Gardens Sustainable Pollinators Planting

Join staff from Brookside Gardens for a full day of exploration and learning! We will tour their newly landscaped parking lot gardens which feature sustainable landscape design. We will also enjoy a tour of their Wings of Fancy exhibit. Please note this training will involve walking outdoors, so please plan and dress appropriately with hats, sunscreen and water. We will also have a nice hour for lunch in between activities, so please bring a lunch as well.

Event schedule:

10:00am Arrival

10:15am Wings of Fancy Exhibit and Planting for Pollinators
Learn about butterfly behavior and biology as well as about plants that support the life cycle of these important and fascinating pollinators. Brookside Gardens staff will interpret the life cycle of the butterfly along with the different plants they need at each stage of life.

12:00pm Lunch

1:00pm Sustainable Landscaping Tour
Tour Brookside Gardens’ reconfigured parking lot that features a demonstration rain garden planting. The area also incorporates green design features such as permeable paving and recycled materials for decking and boardwalks.

2:30pm Adjourn
